Democrat’s Son Receives Discounted Rent
Is anyone really surprised that the Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson’s son was receiving discounted rent for years while his father was helping the building owners win approval for a controversial high rise?
The Los Angeles Times found that the Democrat councilman’s son, Herb Wesson III, went more than five years without a rent increase at the apartment building on Rosewood Avenue, even as many other tenants saw their rent go up.
Council President Herb Wesson should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for violating city ethics laws, which prohibit public officials from “using their power to create a private advantage or disadvantages, financial or otherwise, for any person.”
And since Herb Wesson III, worked for another Democrat City Council member, Curren Price, Wesson III should also be investigated and prosecuted for failing to publicly disclose the rental discount as a gift – per the disclosure forms he is required to submit to the Ethics Commission.
