Just like that, Democrats go from being against foreign interference in our elections (SR 23) to wanting to allow foreign nationals to vote in elections (SB 288).
California Democrats have talked a lot about foreigners influencing and interfering in our elections, but in an ironic twist state Senator Scott Wiener, a Democrat from San Francisco, has introduced what is a first step toward giving foreign nationals as much influence in elections as U.S. citizens.
In 2017 Sen. Wiener introduced a resolution relating to Trump and Russia: http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201720180SR23
Assemblymember David Chiu, a co-author of SB 288 and another San Francisco Democrat, has even gone so far as to say the proposal reflects Democrats’ goal of a state “where human beings are not considered illegal” and any and all immigrants are welcomed into the political system.
Senate Republicans believe that while every opinion from every resident of California is important, voting is a constitutionally vested and sacred right reserved for citizens.
So much has been sacrificed protecting this right; we must ensure its continued protection – even if it means protecting Democrats from themselves. #CADeserveBetter
