Insult to Injury: Renovating an Out of Touch in the Capitol
The State Legislature apparently doesn’t feel the pain of the people. In what can only be described as a tone-deaf expenditure, Assembly Speaker Rendon (D-Paramount) recently authorized $160,000 in new carpet, fresh paint, drywall and other renovations for the Democratic Office of Communications and Outreach.
While that may seem like peanuts a state with a $125-billion budget, it sends the wrong signal to working Californians, who are increasingly being asked to pay more and more for state programs and policies.
To put this in perspective, the average income in Rendon’s hometown of Paramount is in the neighborhood of $46,000.
